Increase perception in your body. ~ The Beacon for Aug. 30, 2012

We received great feedback from last week’s video on Chiropractic.  Video really does say a lot, doesn’t it?

Following on that theme we have chosen to forward you another video this week, this time by Dr. Simon Dove speaking about a breathing strategy developed by Dr. Donald Epstein, who is also the founder of Network Spinal Analysis, the style of Chiropractic that I practice.  This form of breath work called Somato Respiratory Integration (SRI), which is something that we teach in our office, is a practical application to support you on and off the adjusting table.  One of the great things about SRI is once you learn it you can use it yourself, any time any place.  If you are interested in learning more about how to become your own doctor you may want to check out this video or maybe even come to one of our upcoming SRI workshops (Next week Thursday, September 6th at 7pm and Thursday, October 11th at 7 pm).

A big thank you to Dr. Simon Dove for the below video:

For me SRI has been an incredibly valuable tool one that I have used now for over 12 years.  I look for to you learning about it and using it too.
Yours in our ever continuing journey together.

Bucket List ~ The Beacon for August 16, 2012

Hello Lifehouse Community,
Wishing everyone an enjoyable last few weeks of their summer!  Wow what a summer we have had.  Thank you Mother Nature for blessing us with all this sun allowing for so much fun!   Before I get into this week’s beacon article, I want to remind everyone that next week we will be switching to our new hours of operation.  New hours features early morning (Tuesday and Thursday) and later afternoon (Monday and Wednesday) prime time adjusting slots to better serve you.  See new adjusting times below.

Now for this week’s beacon article.

With Emily’s recent car accident I spent a lot of time over the past few weeks thinking about the fragility of life. (By the way, Emily is recovering nicely surrounded by friends and family in her hometown).  Wow we really don’t know the randomness of life and how in one breath it all could be taken away.  Until this reflection time I recognized how I was living under the impression that I was guaranteed many decades of life ahead of me.  I have my health, I take care of my body and I am doing everything right on track.  But the reality is we just don’t know.  Death is as much a reality as life is.  This was a pretty heavy reflection which bared much learning and one I encourage you to spend some time with as well.

In the meantime one of my coach/advisors was flying off to Africa to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro the tallest peak in Africa.  As he set off for his adventures he communicated it as one of the items in his bucket list that he was eager to experience. This morning I had the opportunity to speak with him.  In his words, this was “A life changing experience”, he returned home so grateful for our opportunities in Canada, so grateful for his family, and feeling blessed to be alive.  Tom thank you for living full out and for living by example!

This got me thinking of my own bucket list.  I had seen the movie years ago and remembered the concept as it was a hot phrase for quite some time.  But it had drifted from my mind before I had taken the time to compile my own list, let alone experience any of them.  So I began to create my list.  This has been a real eye opener for me as it did not come easily.  Just what do I want to do with my life, what is really meaningful to me, what do I want to see before I die, is there anything that I need to say to another person before I check out, just how do I want to leave the earth?  My list is growing and more importantly it is clarifying.  One of the things that I have learned from my coach Tom is getting clear on what really is important to us is always the first step.  Once you have that and it is written down then you can take action on it, before those steps it is only in the ethers and it is way less likely to come true.
I encourage you to create your bucket list as well.  Take some time with it, ponder it, and clarify it.  To help you get in the mood for it I have attached a couple of inspirational Youtube videos for you to look at.  May you get clear on what is truly important to you and begin to live your life from those ideas.  Don’t leave your bucket list till tomorrow, as you know what they say, tomorrow may never come.  And a challenge to all you 'keeners' - there will be space in the hallway to post your top ten bucket list items.  (You can remain anonymous if you choose)   Accountability also helps manifest dreams & intentions.

Carpe Diem,
Dr. Norm

Life is Purposeful ~ The Beacon for Aug. 9, 2012

The purpose of life is a life of purpose.
This is a great lesson from a teacher of mine, Dr. PJ Amlinger.  A good lesson for me and I sense a good lesson for you.  Remember last week’s message inside of KISS, There is a universal intelligence inside of all things.  This means that all things are perfect and in perfect order, it is up to us to uncover and see the perfection in it and gain the lesson or learning from it.  Dr. Peter says more, enjoy….

Dr. PJ Amlinger, DC                                                                                       July 22, 2012

LIFE IS PURPOSEFUL

I believe, with certainty, that Life IS purposeful.
If you choose to agree you are then accepting that:

EVERYTHING that shows up in your life is meaningful to you and SERVES you.  Not just the big experiences, the second by second flow of the river of life is always pertinent.  It is showing up at the perfect time and is critical for your growth and evolution.

Not the just the warm fuzzy stuff, the painful stuff often teaches more and more deeply.
Whether it looks beautiful, or seems ugly,  the Creator put it in front of you for a reason.
Our Native Elders teach that we must learn to see the beauty in ALL creation, even when it isn’t pretty.

If you choose to embrace it and all the emotion and energy it brings the experience will open itself up to you.

If you surrender to its presence and the perfection that is, instead of trying to run from it, hide from it, deny it or cover it up in which ever way you may try, you make yourself available to the lessons and wisdom the universe has blessed you with by putting this experience in front of you.

If you don’t accept it and honor it your life will stand still and its cousin will visit you in the future.
If you choose not to embrace it, it will create a subluxation within you.

Remember, Life is ALWAYS, alright in ALL WAYS.
Live today with awareness and by asking what the teaching is.

K.I.S.S. of Health ~ The Beacon for August 2, 2012

You have all heard the acronym ‘Keep It Simple Silly’. In our complicated world where things tend to get more sophisticated by the day never has this age old slogan been more true, especially when it comes to our health. We have been convinced that health is complicated, that it needs high-tech machines, and educated doctors to achieve. This simply is not the case.

When I sit back and ask myself, "What is the simple truth about health that I want everyone to know so they can be healthy too?" The answer - my Top Five Universal Truths, popped into awareness. This is a great reminder to return to time and time again (this is why we have included an easy to print version of this file; I encourage you to print one right now and place it beside your computer, on your fridge or in your workspace). Although truth may be simple, the application and practice of it, well that is a process, a life study. I have been working with and implementing these truths into my life now for over 13 years and my understanding and application of these truths is always evolving. I hope it does for you too. Enjoy! Dr. Norm

The Five Most Important Universal Truths Taught By Dr. Norm
  1. There is an intelligence in all things that is perfect in its expression all of the time. This intelligence made you, heals you, and is you; and is communicated primarily along your nervous system.
  2. Life is a process. You are in a constant state of change. As co-creator of your life you get to choose how your life will unfold and how you respond to your life experiences. Every thought, word and action will move you in the direction of health, wellness and connection; or towards illness, dis-ease and separation.
  3. Everything is energy and has its own vibration or frequency to it, which determines its characteristics; both quantity and quality. Your spinal cord is the main conduit for life force energy to flow through you, therefore the shape, position and tone of your spinal cord will determine the shape, position and tone of you and your life.
  4. Four things are necessary for maximum health and wellbeing "being the best YOU” you can be.
a) Clarity - having a clear intention and direction in life; aligning your thoughts, words, and actions with what you want to be, do, and have.

b) Connection - a clear neurological connection so you can ideally express yourself.

c) Energetic Alignment - an open, flexible, and aligned spine allowing your life force to flow in greater quantity and quality.

d) Wellness - a healthy lifestyle that supports you with everything you need to be your best.

5.   There is both a mind-body connection and also a body-mind connection. Becoming more connected and consciously aware of your body will move you towards wholeness.
