A Simple But Uncomfortable Truth - by Dr. Peter Amlinger ~ The Beacon for July 26, 2011

This week’s beacon is brought to you from my dear friend Dr. Peter Amlinger.  This is a very important concept that I have often thought about myself.  I trust that it is perfect for our community as well.

A Simple But Uncomfortable Truth
By Dr. Peter Amlinger

This passed weekend saw us in Atlanta at Dynamic Essentials.  One of the many gifted speakers, Dr. Marilyn Shore made the following observation.

When someone gets labelled with cancer, takes the typical medical treatment of chemotherapy, radiation and or surgery and survives it is a medical miracle.  If they happen to die, it is God’s will.  If they choose to not take the traditional medical approach, take personal responsibility for their health and use strategies to support their  inborn healing ability such as chiropractic, meditation, naturopathy, nutrition and other resources and they get well it is considered a fluke by the traditional medical community.  If they take this approach and pass away, they are considered to be an idiot.  Ponder these 4 scenarios for a moment.

Dr Shore knows these scenarios well, as she worked for two years in an experimental cancer treatment ward in a New York hospital.

Here is the real deal:  YOUR ABILITY TO HEAL IS FAR GREATER THAN YOU HAVE BEEN LED TO BELIEVE.

In fact, you have an inner healer.  It is your innate intelligence.  It expresses over your Brain and spinal cord to each of the 70 trillion cells of your body.  Its purpose is to help you survive, heal, adapt, replicate, and reproduce.  It also guides your life.  It is IMPERATIVE THAT IT EXPRESSES WITHOUT INTERFERENCE.

Subluxation dims it down - subluxations dims down this power.  Living subluxated leads to a progressive deterioration of these above stated essential functions in you.

Only chiropractors are trained to detect and correct subluxations through the specific chiropractic adjustment.  When you are living clear of subluxations these vital functions are restored and your body know has the opportunity to revivify itself and build itself back to health, from the inside out.

Think about this.  This Power built you from one cell at conception to a wonder-filled, complex being with 70 trillion cells.  Every HOUR, one billion of your cells die.  They are replaced without you even knowing it.  This inner power never sleeps.  The quality of the cells you are building is totally dependent on the quality and quantity of the nerve flow they receive

Wouldn’t you rather trust the power that built you and rebuilds you at the rate of one billion cells per hour.

Everyone needs lifetime chiropractic care so their innate can express at peak efficiency.    You can choose to live clear of subluxation or you can wait until your subluxation reeks enough havoc that you have a serious health crisis; you decide.

Dependency – Independency-Co creativity ~ The Beacon for July 19, 2011

In life we all go through varying stages in regards to relationships.  For most people they begin in a dependent place.  Here we see that something other than ourselves is responsible for or is to blame for our health, joy, connection or love.  This can be a parent, partner, doctor, food, substance, or behavior.   This is often where many people begin when they start chiropractic care with me.  They are in a tough place and need help to get better.  This is not bad or wrong and sometimes is quite necessary.   However, it is no place to live forever.  People here relate on a 50%-50% basis of “give and take” or some combination thereof.

As I begin to work with people we teach them rightful thinking about health, how true health comes from within and that ultimately they are responsible for their state.  We also help them reconnect to their innate healing abilities.  During this time I see people become self empowered, strong and able to step into life full force as whole and healthy people. They regain their independence.    In relationships this happens as well.   Two people may live together, however have moved away from needing each other and being dependant on each other.   They are both very strong, whole and able people.  Life is split down the middle, each sharing responsibilities and duties.  Sometimes when people enter this stage of their relationship they are tempted to do things by themselves as they no longer need the other person and often many do.  But this isn’t the highest form of relationship.  People here relate on a 100% - 100% basis.

The next step in relationship is being co-creative.  This is where we can dance in relationship as two whole and healthy individuals who don’t need each other but find that life is better together.   People learn what each other’s skills and gifts are and what they like doing most and come together in a co-creative way.    This takes surrendering and allowing others in, not because they have to but because there is huge opportunity in it.  Many people see a chiropractor for this reason, again, not that they need to or have to but that they choose to and have found that life is better when they do.   In a co-creative relationship people find that 1 + 1 = 3 or more, that the partnership is greater than the sum of its parts.

Where ever you are in your relationships may you be wise to grow towards your highest good.

Yours in co-creation

Normal Vs Average ~ The Beacon for July 13, 2011

This past week I met with a new person starting chiropractic care.  During her initial consultation she told me she is pregnant and is experiencing some pain around her tailbone.  She shared a conversation she had recently with her nurse about her discomfort.  The nurse replied that this was quite “normal” for pregnant moms.  I stopped her and asked, “Does having consistent pain sound normal to you?”
“No,” she responded, “pain is usually a sign that there is something wrong.”
“You’re right; pain is a message from the body.  Now it may be average that many expecting moms do have tailbone pain, why do you think that is?” I asked.
“Well I am going through lots of changes, I am gaining lots of weight, my tummy is sticking out lots, and my lower back is curving out a lot.” She said as she demonstrated some of the changes that she was going through.  I stopped her while she was modeling the changes especially the extended lumbar curve she was making in her low back and helped her notice how this was making her tailbone stick out quite a lot.
“Do you think this could be why your tailbone is quite sore, because the curve of your back is out of alignment? I asked.
“That makes sense to me” she said.
“Now what else do you think could be effected if your lower back is out of alignment?” I asked.  She drew a blank.  So I slowed down and explained to her that if the pelvis is out of alignment like she was demonstrating to me it could decrease the opening of her birth canal by as much as 30%!  “Is this something that you want?” I asked.
”No,” she responded and began looking much more interested in our conversation.
“Also this misalignment that we are speaking about is also a sign that your abdominal muscles are weak, “ I added.  “How important do you think it is to have strong abdominal muscles for during your delivery?” I asked.
“Oh I want my birth to go as quickly and as efficiently as possible” she naturally responded.
“I agree, not only for you and your health but also for your baby’s health as well” I added.  “Now let me ask you again, does having constant pain in your tailbone sound normal or average to you?”
She replied, “Well I can see now that this pain is not normal, it is a sign that I am out of alignment and I need help from you.  I am guessing if the nurse knew that misalignments are quite common and that lots of moms have this problem it must be quite average.”

“You are right,” I remarked “and if it is indeed average (which statistics show it is very common) how many moms are waiting to know this information?  And how many babies are being born with extra complications, like having to use forceps, vacuum extraction, or many even born via c-section all because their mom was out of alignment and a specific chiropractic adjustment could have solved the problem?” I asked.

Can YOU do me a favor?  For the health of our communities’ baby’s can you share this with all the pregnant moms that you know?  80% of all babies are born with imbalances in their spine and nerve system much of which could be prevented with safe and effective chiropractic care.

And remember to question when you are being told that something you are experiencing is normal, is it really normal or is it just that many people also have it?  Just because someone is experiencing or suffering from the same thing as you does that make it normal?

Let’s make health our communities’ normal and average state.

Reflections on "Planting Seeds of Health" ~ The Beacon for July 5, 2011

For the last two weeks you have had the opportunity to "plant seeds of health" in our community with complementary gift certificates for first visits to share with friends, family, neighbours, etc.

Wow!  I feel so blessed to be surrounded by so many conscious people - both in terms of your own health and your awareness & commitment to those you love and care about.  Thank you from the bottoms of our hearts that each of you are so willing to engage & share the chiropractic message and your own benefits from care by offering gifts of health to those in your inner circle.  We really appreciate your caring... and know that your friends and family will too.

"Who do you wish was under regular chiropractic care?"  - your neighbour, your dentist, optometrist, your child's teacher/daycare worker, cashier, minister, hair stylist.  "Who would benefit from greater energy, better sleep or a better connection with themselves?"

I'm reminded in my own life the "messages" that I resisted and avoided and indeed that took me a while "to get" and really hear.  The same message that came forward and was repeated to me in multiple ways, through multiple voices and at multiple times over the years, but it wasn't until I was truly ready to hear whatever wisdom the message held that I was able to take it in, understand and make use of it.  As so often is the case - in terms of timing and opportunities in divine order.

One experience that comes to mind... that started two years ago when I was given a copy of "The Shack" and though I appreciated the generosity and warm wishes attached to the book I had significant reservations in reading it.  Throughout the two years a handful of people in different circles expressed their interest, appreciation or mentioned the book in passing... I would pick up my copy - re-read the back cover, thumb through it briefly but didn't feel the draw to continue.

Fast forward to two weeks ago, where I attended a workshop where the facilitator raved about the book, I returned to Nanaimo where a client spoke very highly of it and had a third person in refer to it too.  Okay Universe!  I'm listening - I'll give it another chance.  A few days later I've finished chapter 4 and feeling through my 'old stories' of grief, self-responsibility, forgiveness and letting go... Ahhh, I see now why I wasn't open a read to read this a year ago.

What I'd like to share is the importance of hanging with someone and holding space by continuing to plant seeds of health and wellness... even if and especially when they may not see eye to eye or follow your advice/suggestion right away.  In some cases, it's a real 'stretch' for a friend or family member to consider something outside "the standard" or "normal" medical model.

Don't give up... sometimes it takes a person hearing the same message
a number of times before they take action.  When the time is right and with your loving, encouragement - anything is possible.

Thank you for seeing and supporting our vision, for speaking up to better support your friend's health... and especially overall wellbeing.
