"Change" - The Beacon for Monday, November 22, 2010

“My experience with change is - it is essential in the growth process.  Look at the trees they are changing all the time.  You don’t see them calling up to all their other tree friends and saying, “Oh my god, I can’t believe it!  Things changed today. I lost a leaf!  I can’t believe it.  I changed today.”  Nay, they just loose a bunch of leaves and grow them back again next year. ”  Dr. Norm Detillieux
Wow!  Am I ever learning about letting go and on change right now!  After four and a half years of service Alita is no longer with The Lifehouse.  Alita was a wonderful employee who helped in the creation of many projects and gave hundreds life changing hugs and well wishes.  I know she is off to bigger and better things.  All the best Alita!  I know we are all cheering her on.  She was an excellent employee and I was sad to see her go.
With these changes it gave Heather and I an opportunity to rehire and expand our team.  Wow what an experience that was.  46 people dropped off resumes over the course of 2 hours on Saturday and Monday.  After much deliberation and careful listening we have invited Melanie to join our team.  Melanie will bring her enthusiasm and inspiring way of being, wisdom and warmth to our studio space.  It was pretty incredible as Heather and I picked our top three choices, the same as each other, out of the 46 people!  My experience is when both Heather and I are in alignment beautiful things happen. J
Warning: when you are in an intense change process expect to feel a rollercoaster of emotions from nervousness to relief, from anxiety to anger to joy, from fear to excitement.
Speaking of change, I invite all of you to recreate your relationship with The Lifehouse. Come in, meet Melanie and experience the new energy here.  Melanie is really looking forward to meeting all of you.
Have a great week enjoying your ever-changing being.

"Give Peace a Chance" ~ The Beacon for Nov 11, 2010

Give Peace a Chance

Every year around this time I begin to feel an inner conflict.  Around me is the societal norm of celebrating the war veterans for all their sacrifices through the recent wars.  There is a part of me that wants to honour the valiant efforts of these men and women and the ensuing gifts they have left behind.  There is another part of me that remains frustrated with the seemingly excessive focus on war.  I wonder - What about peace?   In our celebrations do we remember to celebrate peace as well?

"I was once asked why I don't participate in anti-war demonstrations. I said that I will never do that, but as soon as you have a pro-peace rally, I'll be there."
~ Mother Teresa
As we turn our focus to peace where are you looking for that peace?  Are you looking for it out there externally, on the television, provided for you by the government, or is it something that you pray for others to realize?  Or do you drop in and look for it within?
“Outer peace will not be experienced until inner peace is realized.”  Dr. Norm Detillieux

As you realize that peace within - is it something to be held on to, to be admired to be horded?  Or is it a gift that keeps on giving?  Do you look to pay that peace forward giving it to another?

If you wish to experience peace, provide peace for another.”~ Tenzin Gyatso, The 14th Dalai Lama

This morning I lay awake observing my upcoming day.  I remembered it was Remembrance Day.  I remembered the good words of Mother Teresa.  And I also remembered the words and song of John Lennon and Yoko Ono “Give Peace a Chance”.  I have attached the replicas of the original posters that they plastered through the world.  You too can display around your home, your place of work or gift to those around you this simple message of peace….if you choose.

May peace be with you.

Upon What Are You Dependent? ~ Dr Peter Amlinger DC

I was to sit down tonight to write my newest Beacon article.  I first opened my latest email newsletter from Dr. Peter Amlinger, a man I really look up to.  After reading this newsletter I exhaled, don’t think I can write anything better than that this week.  Great article Pete!  And hope this helps many of you out there who have had this very same questions.

Upon What Are You Dependent?

October 31, 2010                                                                                    Dr PJ Amlinger, DC

Last week I was catching up with a patient and I inquired when we were going to be seeing her daughter.  This teenager has been plagued with some ongoing health issues which are affecting the quality of her life and despite countless trips to various physicians she remains undiagnosed and unhelped.  Mom said that she had reservations about bringing her in because she was concerned that she might become dependent on chiropractic adjustments.  I was very grateful that she brought this up and I want to dispel the myth about dependency on adjustments to keep you well.

First of all, let me point out that you (and everyone else) are dependent on oxygen.  You need oxygen to live, without it you die within minutes.  Is this dependency a bad thing?

You also depend on your dentist to help you keep your teeth healthy and a mechanic to keep your car running efficiently and safely.  Is that a bad thing?

Finally, think about someone who has hi blood pressure.  They are dependent on drugs  to try to keep their blood pressure in the normal range.  These drugs have many side effects which negatively impact the quality of their life.  The research shows that if these people who are dependent on drugs in an attempt to control their blood pressure, could get better results with NO SIDE EFFECTS, if they relied on a chiropractor to keep their necks free of subluxation.

The dictionary defines dependent as:  relying on or requiring a person or thing for support, supply, or what is needed.  Is that a bad thing?

You can depend on chiropractic to help you keep your nervous system free of subluxation induced nerve interference so you can express maximum healing power and your full potential.

Just like oxygen is vital to life, so too is nerve flow from the brain to the body.  Life flows from the brain to the body over the nerve system.

Would you rather depend on an artificial chemical to cover up or control symptoms or the power that made you and continues to control and coordinate all aspects of healing and life within you?

Depend on chiropractic to keep your healing power flowing at 100 %
